#AllAmerican Tour – 11.09.16

Nick Carter played at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto last night as part of his third leg of the tour. I saw him only a few months ago during his first run in North America and even did the whole VIP thing. Every once in a while, I just need to go back and get myself a Nick Carter hug because that man gives the best and warmest hugs. However, since I’ve already done one VIP this year, I thought that I would skip it for this tour. Obviously I still had to go to the concert which my coworkers think it’s hilarious, I don’t know why.
The great thing about Nick’s concerts is that you can probably go a million times and you will always be entertained because he is SUCH an incredible performer. Which helps because if I have to be honest, this has not been my most favourite album. But watching him on stage, he has such an energy to him and it is infectious.

Last night was no different. For a few hours, I got to forget about the troubles of the world and my own troubles. I was in another world with him. He started this concert off (thankfully) in those glasses and the leather jacket. It is without a doubt my favourite Nick Carter look of all time. He did a lot of old bsb music, and a lot off of his stuff form his three solo albums. My very favourite moment from this concert was when he did a quick a cappella version of I Need You Tonight of off the Millennium album. I actually preferred I See Heaven In Your Eyes and was pretty upset when they changed the song to I Need You Tonight on the album. I was even more upset when Andrew Fromm was asked why they changed I See Heaven in Your Eyes to I Need You Tonight and he said something about how the song worked better and what would you rather have Nick Carter say to you? I see heaven in your eyes or I need you tonight? My 15 year old self screamed at the computer screen: I SEE HEAVEN IN YOUR EYES!!! That is way more romantic than I need you tonight. Pshhhh. Anyways…

And I don’t know why, but I love his dancing, and not just because of the usual reasons. But there is something so precise about each step. There’s a certain flair, a certain energy about his dance moves that just captivates me.
It was another incredible evening with Nick Carter. I came out of the concert with a feeling of euphoria and a need to go back and listen to all the old school BSB songs again.

QOTD – 10.03.16

kev

Today’s qotd is dedicated to Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys on his birthday! I couldn’t decide which one was my favourite, so here are a few:

  • I believe as human beings we are out of balance, out of sync with the earth.
  • We’re touching people’s lives and making people forget about their problems for a moment. That’s what music’s all about, I think.
  • We’d never done anything to harm you, I don’t appreciate the negative comments. Unless you want me coming after you in the press, and you don’t want me talking about you, you need to stop it and lay off my little brother. You don’t want me to open up a new can of worms.
    • To Paris about her bashing Nick.

Happy Birthday Kevin!!

Top Ten Tuesday

toptentuesdayIt has been a very long while since I did a top Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the ladies over at The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s theme is a semi-freebie, All About Audio.

When I was in high school, my editor had asked me if I could do a quick new music review to add into the newspaper as we needed something to fill up space. I said I could do something about the Boys, they had just released a new album some weeks earlier and he looked at me like I was joking. When he realized I wasn’t, he told me no and gave the job to someone else!! I was crushed. So this is for my grade 10 self, this week I am doing a compilation of my top ten favourite Backstreet Boys music videos.

  1. I’ll Never Break Your Heart – original version
I loved this video so much back in the day when it first came out. It was like the most romantic thing as a 13 year old – Brian’s broken heart in the snow, the rose…I wanted to be one of those girls so damn bad! I remember that when they remade the video, I was so upset because this was just the best thing ever. Years later, it’s still one of  my favourite videos.

  2. Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely
This video will always hold a special place in my heart because of what it meant to the Boys. I remember watching the opening sequence with Brian and just bawling like a baby, the homage to Kevin’s dad, the dedication to Denniz Pop, who helped pen so many of their greatest hits. I still get teary eyed watching this and I loved that they shared such a personal part of their lives with the fans.

  3. As Long As You Love Me
Nothing has created more giddy fangirling in me than this video. This was Nick Carter at the height of his perfection to me. Even now, when this song comes on the radio, I am filled with giddy giggles. I loved that they did the serious Boys and then the fun Boys. That this was the video where Brian met his future wife. Nick’s little “written in your history” hand gesture. The chair dance. The morphing. Super giddy.

  4. All I Have to Give
This song was pretty close to eliciting the same fangirl giddiness in me. Nick’s smile while he sings “but I’ll be there to make you smile” would melt my heart each and every time. Plus the hat dance. The silhouetting.

  5. The Call
I loved that this video felt more like it was a little mini movie than a music video! It was so suspenseful and scene transitions from one Boy to the next, the mask ripping and realizing Howie wasn’t Howie! It was the greatest video ever.

  6. Shape of My Heart
I don’t know what it is about this video. They’re really not doing much other then auditioning for a play or something or watching someone auditioning. But I think the blue tint plus the song itself is just so beautiful to me. And I love watching Nick fooling around and laughing with the other guys.

  7. Quit Playin’ Games (With My Heart)
This video made me laugh, the dancing in the rain, the “I don’t know what you’re doing, but I like it” faces/poses that they were making. I think this is more nostalgia than me loving the video. But the dancing in the rain was pretty great 🙂

  8. Show ‘Em (What You’re Made Of)
I loved how raw and naked the Boys were in this, it’s just so simple when you compare it to the other videos they have done. Plus the song lyrics are so great, I love that this was written by Kevin and AJ for their kids. It has such a beautiful message.

  9. I Still
I really liked that this video played with the different speed motions, with a juxtaposition of normal speed with the background sped up or the slo-mo and then sudden speed up. I remember watching the interview about this and being really interested in the concept of the video. Plus I also just really like this song and what Brian had said about this song being the song he would pick for fans to serenade him with. It just really stuck with me.

  10. Bigger
I love the videos where they look like they’re just hanging out and having fun, and that was this video. Nick is pretty obsessed with the Japanese culture and I feel like this video is all him.

Bonus:

Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)
How can I have a list of top BSB music videos without including Backstreet’s Back? Just the little ending clip where they’re all screaming is enough. But the dancing, the  costumes.

Another BSB and Marvel Collaboration?

capture_2016-09-19-13-12-36.png.pngI was reading an article about how BSB and Marvel may be teaming up for another project and I am so excited!

For those who don’t know, Stan Lee and Nick Carter wrote an issue, called The Backstreet Project, way back in the Millennium days. It was about the Boys who were given amulets by an alien that would transform them into super heroes to save the world from an alien attack. The comic book I couldn’t get a hold of until I was much older and had my own money and I could get a copy off of eBay, before that you could only purchase them at their concerts (which I was deemed too young to be allowed to attend) or through their website (which was deemed a waste of money 😦 so yeah…) . But the best thing about this project were the action figures that came with a BK kids meal, which I could get without involving my dad! I dragged my childhood best friend around to BK almost every day for like five weeks just to collect all five of the action figures as well as the For the Fans CD and video. I am so sick of BK, but I got all the action figures and all the special cds and video – so worth it!

Anyway, AJ said in the interview that him and Nick have been talking to Stan Lee about possibly working together again on another project down the road. If that is true, I can’t wait to see what they end up doing together. I just hope that whatever it is, it doesn’t involve Burger King, because I don’t think I could eat another bite.

It seems like there has been a lot of news about the boys lately and the 12 year old fan girl in me is freaking out! I’ll apologize now for all the BSB posts that will be coming your way!
